We are Tropilex!
We think everyone should relax more, your body and mind deserve it. Relaxing in a hammock means getting a mini-holiday for free!
We do this by producing beautiful hammocks & hanging chairs. We prefer to produce as sustainably and honestly as possible.
The Tropilex products
Tropilex hammocks and hanging chairs are woven and finished by hand by traditional hammock weavers in Colombia and India. It's a real pleasure to work with those companies to design and produce the Tropilex hammocks and hanging chairs.
For all Tropilex products, we monitor the production as closely as possible. We visit the factories ourselves, pay attention to the working conditions and double check the quality.
The wooden stands have their origins in well-managed Scandinavian forests and are produced in a special wood factory in Poland. Tropilex wooden stands are FSC certified. The metal stands and hanging material are produced in China. Mostly in two small family companies with very friendly and good willing people 450 km (280 miles) from Shanghai.
We also try to find out as good as possible where the raw materials come from and under what conditions they are extracted. We cannot make a difference everywhere and at all times, but doing nothing is not an option. We take care so you can relax with a good feeling in your new Tropilex hammock or hanging chair!

80% of our Tropilex hammocks and hanging chairs are made from yarns that are certified by Oeko-Tex® 100.
Oeko-Tex® is among the world’s leading certifications for textiles, a so-called health certificate as the finished product is tested for hazardous substances. The criteria for Oeko-Tex® 100 are more rigorous than those set out by law and specifically concern the content of chemicals which can cause, or are suspected of causing, skin irritation, allergies, cancer, damage to the nervous system and internal organs, or reproduction. The list of considered chemicals is regularly updated and adapted.
Oeko-Tex® 100 is a voluntary label controlled by the Oeko-Tex® Association which evaluates and sets the requirements for the product certification.
The wood we use for our products is 100% FSC certified. The FSC certification is considered the “gold standard” designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.
The FSC organization works to take care of our forests and those who rely on them: by protecting plant and animal species, Indigenous Peoples rights, forest workers’ safety, and much more.
Environmentally friendly packaging
We try to pack our packages environmentally friendly with used boxes and reuse as much packaging material as possible!
That’s not always possible. But all the packaging and paper we use is made from FSC certified paper or from recycled paper.
